The New York Islanders announced today that Lou Lamoriello is out as President and General Manager and his contract will not be renewed. The Islanders are expected to be a coveted job. There is expected to be a push for Patrick Roy to be retained as head coach but that is often a slippery slope during the hiring process.

Dan Bylsma is out in Seattle after just one season. Bylsma rebuilt his NHL stock in the American Hockey League and his quick ouster will bring immediate questions if he gets much consideration elsewhere over next couple years as the Pittsburgh magic has now become a very long time ago.

“We thank Dan for his commitment and the energy he brought to our organization over the past four years at the NHL and AHL levels,” Kraken general manager Ron Francis said in a statement. “After a thorough review of the season and our expectations for next year and beyond, we’ve made the difficult decision to move in a different direction behind the bench.”
