For whatever reason Orpik has toned down his physical dman play. Engelland and Bortuzzo can handle the role however. Engelland was very good last night clearing people away from the net. I'd like to see that from him on a more consistent basis.

Maybe, just maybe addin JJ would light a fire under Orpiks ass again and he'll pick up his play. He's been pretty bad the last handful of games. And last night he got rocked pretty good. Hes got a rep as a physical D man and he's let up lately and seems to have become a target.

Trading Bennet for Johnson makes even less sense to me especially in the long-term. Short-term may help a cup run this year. We really need young forward prospects and do not have anyone. If you trade for Johnson then you have Letang, Johnson, and Depres as potential long-term Dman while you also have a ton of guys over the next 4 years who can become top 4 dman. Seems like a bad idea to me. I'd prefer simply seeing what Depres can do if we play him top 4 minutes for an entire month going into the trade deadline. Might as well figure out if he's ready for that role righ tnow before trading him. Martin-Orpik should be a very good second pairing. Defensively I think we need to focus on team discipline rather than change the players. I think our top 4 dmen including Depres are talented enough for a cup run.

For the Pens they get tougher to play against on the bottom 3 and have another physical minute eating D man, the Jackets get a future cornerstone and a guy who can produce for them right away and a charity case in monkey face boy.
