Cubs as expected to be in the mix for Price, Greinke

The Chicago Cubs expected to be a big player in free agency, are planning to sit down with the agents for David Price, Zack Greinke and Jordan Zimmermann during this week’s general manager meetings in South Florida, CSN’s Chicago’s Pat Mooney reports. The Cubs have also been linked to top free agent outfielders Alex Gordon and Jason Heyward. Chicago, though, is considered unlikely to pull off a coup and sign both Price and Greinke.

 

Pascal Dupuis back in lineup vs MTL

Pascal Dupuis has been officially cleared to play tonight vs the Montreal Canadiens. Dupuis will skate on the second line with Sidney Crosby and Beau Bennett.

“Dupuis will be playing tonight. Everything is fine,” Penguins head coach Mike Johnston said of Dupuis

Steelers preparing to start Landry Jones

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said today the door is open for Ben Roethlisberger to play but “just slightly ajar”.

The team is planning for Landry Jones to start, Tomlin indicated. The Steelers are also preparing for Josh McCown to start for Cleveland. Browns head coach Mike Pettine said Josh McCown will start if healthy, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

 

Penguins to avoid seeing Carey Price Wednesday night

The NHL-best Montreal Canadiens come to town Wednesday night and the Penguins will avoid seeing Carey Price in goal. Price who is currently sidelined with a lower body injury, is getting a second opinion on his injury, the Canadiens announced today. Backup netminder Mike Condon has gone 6-0-1 with a 1.57 goals-against average and a .940 save percentage in place of Price

 

Roethlisberger’s injury not season ending

Ben Roethlisberger has been diagnosed with a mid-foot sprain that is expected to sideline him for a few weeks, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

The Steelers face the Browns next week then have a bye before a critical four game stretch against the Seahawks, Colts, Broncos and Bengals.
