Pens fall to Canadiens 6-5

The Penguins fought all night, but a combination of non-calls and a disallowed goal that wasn’t a goal did them in. The Pens got down 2-0 early in the first period and was close to becoming 4-0 but this team didn’t quit. Colby Armstrong got the Penguins on the board with a powerplay goal his 11th of the year on a cross ice pass from Sidney Crosby. The game was back and fourth from their. Montreal countered quickly with a goal from Higgins then Tomas Surovy poked one in short side and got the Penguins within a goal. Alex Kovalev who was quiet for most of the night scored a power play goal to put the Habs up 4-2 then

News and Notes

University of Pittsburgh head basketball coach Jamie Dixon is believed to be in discussions with Missouri and Arizona State for their head coaching vacancy’s. Dixon is either a idiot wanting to leave Pitt for those schools or he’s trying to get some bargaining power to get an extension and more money from Pitt. In my opinion Dixon doesn’t deserve a extension or more money at all. He hasn’t taken Pitt to the next level so why give him a extension. I still would like to see Dixon stay but if he would leave Pitt would have to make a strong run at bringing in John Calipari who has Pitt roots. Only time will tell. Penguins lose to Senators 5-2 The

Sunday Night Report

Aaron Gray’s inability to finish around the rim plagued the Panthers during their loss to the Bradley Braves Bradley stuns Pitt 72-66 ending their sweet sixteen hopes Pitt got down early and couldn’t amount a comeback as the Bradley Braves outrebouned, outhustled and outexecuted Pitt. Aaron Gray was a big reason Pitt didn’t win. I’ve been saying all year he is overrated and cant finish around the hoop. Even though he was not productive offensively, he was even wose defensively. The big matchup coming into this game was Aaron Gray VS Patrick O’Bryant of Bradley. Gray didn’t even belong on the same court as O’Bryant. Despite all of that, Jamie Dixon deserves a dose of the blame. Why stick with

Devils beat Penguins 2-1 The Penguins got the early lead from Jani Rita who threw one to the net and deflected off of Kent Klee’s leg and went in. The devils tied it at 1 in the second period and then in the third Tomas Surovy’s turnover at the Devils blue line resulted in Brian Gionta sniping one past goalie Marc Andre Fleury. In the third period the Pens couldn’t generate any offense and a reason for that was the lazy hooking penalties they still take. Despite the loss this game was still a encouraging sign. Two out of 3 wins against playoff teams can only boost the confidence of these young players and Marc Andre Fleury has benefited the

NHL Report

Are Matt Cullen and Carolina Hurricanes the favorites out East? A glance around the NHL The Carolina Hurricanes just keep on rolling after defeating the New York Rangers 5-3 and giving the Rangers a 6 game losing streak. Im not jumping off of the Rangers bandwagon but this shouldn’t be surprising. The Flyers and Devils keep on losing so Rangers still have a slight chance at winning the Atlantic Division. The Hurricanes with the win tonight set franchise records for Wins and Points. Mark Recchi has been non-existence since he has joined Carolina. Maybe Sidney was making him look so good lately. Nashville shuts out the Canucks 5-0 and handing the Canucks their 5th straight loss. Nashville is a dangerous

By obtaining Culpepper it cost them a second round pick, but this is a great move for Dolphin team was quarterback away from making the playoffs. As for Drew Brees. He signed a 6 yr deal with the New Orleans Saints. This move shakes up the draft where the Saints most likely will be looking to trade the pick. Wide Reciever David Givens has signed with the Titans. Pens 2 – Flyers 0

What a game this was. I’ve been to over a hundred Penguin games in my short life time and this was one of the most exciting low scoring games I have seen in person. The Penguins were dominate in every asset of the game. Marc Andre Fleury put together two great games and recorded his second career shut out. The past two games the Penguins are finally looking like a team and the recent play has given fans some hope heading into next season. I’ve said for a while this team is not that bad and are only a few pieces away from making a run next season for the # 8 or 7 seed. One of those pieces will

Breaking NFL news Wr Antwaan Randle has bolted the Steelers and agreed to terms with the Washington Redskins. Very surprising they landed him because the Skins just traded for talented reciever Brandon Llyold of the 49ers Running back Edgerrin James has signed with the Arizona Cardnals. The Saints can offer more money but expect him to land in South Beach Pittsburgh 61 – Syracuse 65 Pitt came up short for it’s 2nd big east championship in 4 years. Deadline moves

1 Mark Recchi to Carolina for Niklas Nordgren, Krystofer Kolanos and a second-round pick in 2007. my take: This was a awful trade. Nordgren and Kolanos are two journeymen who will not be on the roster next season. You can check them out in Wilkes Barrie. Some people will say, “hey we got a second round pick for the Wreckingball”. Well the second round pick was the only thing good about this deal, but it will be a wasted pick on a player who is really a 5th rounder. As for Recchi: why trade him if your not getting even return. Hopefully Recchi resigns with the Pens in the offseason. 2. Ric Jackman to Florida for Petr Taticek my take:

Buck’s Penguins report

Penguins come up short in 5-4 loss to Lightning The Pittsburgh Penguins showed again for the third straight game that they will not quit no matter what the score is. The Pens were down 4-1 in the third period but fought back getting goals from Crosby, Melichar and Whitney with 55.8 seconds left. In overtime they outplayed Tampa Bay but fell short in the shootout. How do the Pens have a chance in a shootout against a team like Tampa Bay with players such as Lecavalier, Richards and St.Louis. The goaltending for the third straight game was awful. Marc Andre Fleury has hit a rough spot and needs to regain his confidence. It looks like he gets too hard on
