The Penguins coming off of an 4-1 loss to the Phoenix Coyotes have arrived in St. Louis and cancelled their practice for this afternoon. The Penguins are having trouble finding common ground and only have 25 goals in 11 games. With today being an off day its gives the front office and the coaching staff the opportunity to explore their options. Washington Capitals forward Alexander Semin is tied for first in the league in scoring and in a recent interview courtesy of Yahoo.com, Semin had this to say about Sidney Crosby. ” What’s so special about Crosby? I don’t see anything special there. Yes, he does skate well, has a good head, good pass. But there’s nothing else. Even if you compare him to Patrick Kane from Chicago. Kane is a much more interesting player. The way he moves, his deking abilities, his thinking on the ice and his anticipation of the play is so superb.I think that if you take any player, even if he is “dead wood,” and start promoting him, you’ll get a star.” Source: Yahoo.com

The Latest Steelers Buzz; Essex to start?

Chris Kemoeatu did not practice today and has a noticable limp. I’m hearing he has an ankle injury but there has been no word from Steelers headquarters. The Steelers are concerned and we may see Trai Essex start Monday night. Marvel Smith missed practice today and as I stated yesterday don’t count on him playing. There is more to his back spasms than the coaching staff is saying.Troy Polamalu was not on the practice field but he is not injured.

Penguins to introduce third jersey

The Penguins’ will officially unveil their third jersey Wednesday, November 5 at Dick’s Sporting Goods in The Mall at Robinson. The event will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and is open to the public free of charge. Players Tyler Kennedy, Kris Letang, Alex Goligoski, Paul Bissonnette and Eric Godard will be in attendence. The jersey and uniform are the same light blue color pattern that the Penguins wore in last season’s NHL Winter Classic against the Buffalo Sabres on New Year’s Day.

NHL: Alfredsson signs 4 year extension.

Talk about a hometown discount. Within the past hour, the Ottawa Senators have officially signed star forward Daniel Alfredsson to a four-year, $22 million deal. The Senators have called a press conference for 12:30 p.m. to announce the signing. Alfredsson will have a cap hit of $5.5 million and could have easily made more money on the open market.
