A.J. Burnett’s contract with the Phillies includes a player/mutual option for 2015 where with escalators and incentives, he could earn as much as $33.5 million over two years from the Phillies, Jon Heyman of CBSSports reports.
Burnett’s 2014 salary is for $15 million and he’s guaranteed to make $16 million as the player/mutual option for 2015 includes a $1 million buyout if the option isn’t picked up.
Burnett received a limited trade clause and can approve a trade to nine teams. Because of his contract, Burnett is viewed as untradeable in baseball circles.
