Insider Only Agent: Colon “would love to stay a Steeler” but Steelers have “never called”

Right tackle Willie Colon has been regarded by the coaching staff in the past as the Steelers best offensive lineman and is considered by scouts as one of the best young right tackles in the National Football League.
Despite coming off an Achilles injury, Colon is just 27 years old and expected to have a full recovery.
However, with uncertainty surrounding the next CBA, the possibility of Colon becoming an unrestricted free agent hasn’t led to any urgency from the Steelers to address Colon’s situation at any point or even before Colon got injured last summer.
“They have never called regarding Willie, agent Joe Linta tells Inside Pittsburgh on Tuesday evening. “He clearly is one of the two or three best right tackles in the game.”

Linta has been extremely frustrated by the Steelers not even reaching out any point but says, Willie loves Pittsburgh and would love to stay a Steeler.
“He loves Pittsburgh and his teammates and would love to stay a Steeler, ” Linta said.
The Steelers are expected to roll the dice on Colon and not address his situation until after a new CBA is in place.
Under the current CBA, Colon is scheduled to be a restricted free agent but there’s a good chance that at age 27, Colon will qualify for unrestricted free agency once a new CBA is in place.
The only known free agent that the Steelers at this point are expected to discuss an extension with before the CBA expires is cornerback Ike Taylor.
