Taillon 2010 first round Jameson Taillon likely won’t pitch in an official minor league game for the second straight year. After missing all of last season from Tommy John Surgery, Taillon experienced lower abdominal discomfort after his last outing on June 18 in extended spring training and has been diagnosed with a hernia that will require surgery.
Dr. George Eid of the Allegheny Health Network will perform the surgery and Taillon will be sidelined for approximately two months.
At the earliest, Taillon would return to the mound in early September, but the minor league season will be over by then, meaning Taillon could only pitch in instructional league during the off-season.
In 2013 Taillon went 1-3 with a 3.89 ERA in six starts for Triple-A Indianapolis in 2013 as he was moving towards an expected MLB arrival in 2014.
Taillon is 16-21 with a 3.72 ERA in his minor league career with the Pirates organization.
