Antonio Brown was doing Antonio Brown things in the immediate after math of the Steelers 18-16 win over the Chiefs.
Brown is in the headlines the morning after not for his 6-catch, 108 yard performance, but because he decided to go on facebook live while Mike Tomlin was speaking to the team.
Most fascinating about the video isn’t anything that Mike Tomlin said, even if the Patriots have some bulletin material, but that Brown doesn’t have a care in the world that his head coach is speaking. Instead he looks like he’s making a promo for a hookup site.
Even with Tomlin warning about social media in his speech and seconds later Ben Roethlisberger making a comment about being smart on it, Brown’s facebook live keeps going for another 15 minutes which doesn’t surprise anyone who knows Antonio Brown.
“When you get to this point in the journey, man, not a lot needs to be said. Let’s say very little moving forward. Let’s start our preparations. We just spotted these assholes a day and a half. They played yesterday. Our game got moved to tonight. We’re going to touch down at 4 o’clock in the f—ing morning. So be it,” Tomlin said in the video. “We’ll be ready for their ass. But you ain’t got to tell them we’re coming.” “Keep a low profile, and let’s get ready to ball like this up again here in a few days and be right back at it. That’s our story.”
After Tomlin spoke, a few other voices could be heard.
“Keep cool on social media. This is about us, nobody else, man,” Roethlisberger said.
After Roethlisberger’s comments, a player looking in Brown’s direction is heard saying ‘”be cool on social media?….F that shit”.
Patriots QB Tom Brady was asked on WEEI sports radio in Boston about the Brown video.
“That’s against I think our team policy,” Brady said. “I don’t think that would go over well with our coach.”
What Brown did is a major lack of respect towards Tomlin and he’s now caused Tomlin a headache for Tuesday’s press conference where without question the first question to him is going to be about Brown’s video in the private setting of a locker room.
Tomlin is going to be livid but there’s nothing he can do and with today’s players, this probably won’t be the last time.
As many Steelers players will say this week, ‘that’s AB’.
