For the fourth straight week, the Kansas Jay Hawks (26-1) were the runaway No. 1 team, in the updated associated press poll, receiving 61 first-place votes from the 65-member national media panel Monday.
No. 2 Kentucky received 4 first-place votes, while No. 3 Purdue, No. 4 Syracuse, No. 5 Duke rounded out the top 5.
The Pittsburgh Panthers (21-6, 10-4) continued their surge in the polls, moving up seven spots to No. 12. However, the Panthers are No. 16 in the coaches poll that was also released this afternoon.
Villanova who lost to Pitt on Sunday, fell four spots to No. 7.
Meanwhile, West Virginia remains in the top 10, coming in at No. 8. West Virginia is No. 7 in the coaches poll.
Five Big East teams are ranked in the top 12 in the Associated Press poll.
