Daryll Clark threw four touchdowns and Penn State defeated the #15 Michigan Spartans 48-19 at Happy Valley. The win gave Penn State an automatic bid to the Rose Bowl. Penn State dominated the game from the opening kickoff and got off to a early 21-0 lead. Penn State’s offense was clicking on all cylinders gaining 557 yards and went 13/17 on third down.

NHL: Shanahan continues to explore the market

Winger Brendan Shanahan continues to explore the free-agent market according to the Philly.com. “He’s still trying to see which is the best fit,” his agent, Rick Curran, said last night. Sources tell Inside Pittsburgh Sports, the Philadelphia Flyers, Boston Bruins, Washington Capitals, Chicago Blackhawks and the Montreal Canadiens remain potential landing spots for Shanahan. Chicago and Montreal have been making late pitches to lure Shanahan to their cities. The Flyers, Capitals and Devils are near the top of Shanahan’s wish list. Injury Update Willie Parker tweaked his knee. Tomlin believes Parker tweaked his knee prior to the his breakout run where it was obvious he was injured. The status of Brett Keisel is also unclear. The Penguins power play which has struggled away from Mellon Arena came through for the Penguins tonight as Petr Sykora and Sidney Crosby each scored power play goals to lead the Penguins to a 3-2 over the Atlanta Thrashers Thursday night. Petr Sykora started the season with just three points in his first eight games, but has nine points in his last 10 games, and scored the game winner on the power play with 2:40 remaining in the third period. Sidney Crosby played very well and scored his seventh goal of the season to give Pittsburgh a 2-1 lead 12:24 into the second period. Crosby also had two assists on the night to give him 25 points on the season.
