Insider Only Bedard effective but suffers loss in 4-1 defeat

Pirates starter Erik Bedard (0-2, 2.25 ERA) gave up 2 runs and 8 hits in 5 innings pitched, striking out three and walking 1 in the Pirates(2-3) 4-1 loss to the Dodgers (5-1) on Wednesday night. Bedard was effective for the second straight start, exiting after the 5th with a pitch count of 88, throwing 58 strikes. The Pirates were limited to 1 run and 6 hits. Pittsburgh has scored just 1 run in Bedard’s two starts this year.
