Blackhawks ship Byfuglien, others to Atlanta

Kevin Allen of the USA Today reports, the Chicago Blackhawks today traded forwards Dustin Byfuglien, Ben Eager, prospect Akim Alou and defenseman Brent Sopel to the Atlanta Thrashers in exchange for a 2010 1st round pick (from New Jersey), 2010 2nd round pick (from New Jersey), forward Marty Reasoner and prospect Jeremy Morin.
The Blackhawks will shed approximately $5.1 million in salary.
Byfuglien was due $3 million, Sopel $2.3 million and Ben Eager was scheduled to be a restricted free agent. He made $965,000 last season.
Reasoner, 33, is due $1.2 million in 2010-2011.
The Blackhawks accomplished their goal of moving salary and adding a role player with a low cap hit, along with accumulating high draft picks and a prospect.
Forward Jeremy Morin was the Thrashers second round in 2009.
