CALIFORNIA (June 3) – A total of 205 California University of Pennsylvania student-athletes, representing all sports (fall, winter & spring), were named to the Spring 2010 edition of the Vulcan Athletic Director Honor Roll. For the eighth consecutive-semester, the Cal U athletic programs compiled a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.00 or higher.
To be eligible for the academic honor, student athletes must earn a GPA of 3.0 or higher during the semester. Women’s cross country posted the highest team GPA at 3.75 and featured 15 runners on the Honor Roll. On the men’s side, the cross country team posted the top GPA of the eight sports at 3.46 with six runners holding a 3.00 GPA or better. Overall, the Vulcans posted their highest cumulative GPA since Fall 2005 by posting an overall 3.18 mark this semester.
In terms of pure numbers, women’s track led all sports with 35 representatives on the Honor Roll, followed by football (31) and men’s track & field (25). Softball led all programs with 95 percent (18-of-19) of its team on the Honor Roll, followed by women’s cross country (94 percent; 15-of-16) and volleyball (85 percent; 11-of-13).
