CALIFORNIA (Jan. 20) – California University of Pennsylvania senior defensive back Tommie Campbell (Aliquippa, Pa./Aliquippa/Edinboro) has been invited to play in the inaugural Eastham Energy All-Star Game on Sunday, Jan. 23, at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Ariz.
Campbell, who started at the Valero Cactus Bowl earlier this month, is one of eight players from NCAA Division II programs selected to the all-star game. He is listed as one of five cornerbacks on the roster for the Stripes, which will be coached by former Kentucky head coach Hal Mumme.
A 6-3 defensive back, Campbell played in all 12 games this season and posted 29 tackles (17 solo) and two interceptions – both in the NCAA Playoffs against Bloomsburg. The Aliquippa, Pa., native originally started his college career by playing linebacker and safety at Pitt.
Campbell is the only player from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) selected to the Eastham Energy All-Star Game. He is joined on the Stripes roster by several notable players from NCAA Division I programs, including Mississippi quarterback Jeremiah Masoli, USC linebacker by Mike Morgan and TCU wide receiver Jimmy Young.
The Stripes will face the Stars led by Joe Moglia, who was the CEO of TD Ameritrade and the executive advisor to Nebraska head football coach Bo Pelinni the last two seasons. The Stars roster features West Virginia safety Sidney Glover, Minnesota quarterback Adam Weber and center Ryan Pugh, who started for National Champion Auburn.
The Eastham Energy All-Star Game is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. EST start (5:30 p.m. MST) and will be broadcast live on FS Arizona, FS West, Fox Prime Ticket and Fox College Sports.
