Following last night’s breakthrough in negotiations between the NHL and NHLPA, there continues to be optimism of CBA talks headed in the right direction.
The Board of Governors met for two hours today and positive vibes are also coming out of that meeting. The BOG discussed the possibility of a deal being made soon and a 54-60 game schedule being formulated.
“We are pleased with the process that is ongoing,” Gary Bettman said today, holding a press conference what appeared to be under 20 seconds.
The owners yesterday showed a willingness to move some on a few key issues, which has players much more optimistic than they have been at any point, however, neither side has exchanged a new proposal so that’s why things are still on pins and needles. It could still blow up at any point, an NHL source said, saying talks “remain fragile.”
The NHL has been expecting the PA to make a new offer and the two sides will be getting together again starting at 2:15.
