When Erik Christensen was traded to the Atlanta Thrashers last winter, it was believed he would reach his potential by getting top line minutes after being stuck on the depth chart behind Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and Jordan Staal in Pittsburgh.
Christensen’s stint with the Thrashers did not go very well after scoring only 5 goals in 47 games. Christensen was given new life when he was dealt to the Anaheim Ducks on March 4th, 2009 but things are not off to a good start.
Christensen has four assists in seven games but has played
the past game and a half as the fourth-line center for the Ducks, after having been tried at left wing on the first and second lines. His minutes have gone from 17:29 to 6:17.

While the jury still isn’t out on Christensen, at age 25 it’s becoming clear that he may never reach that top two line potential that many scouts thought he had.
