Pittsburgh Penguins GM Ray Shero held a press conference today at 5:00 p.m. to discuss today’s developments.
Here’s a few quick notes
  • Earlier we reported Bob Murray the agent for Bill Guerin told us Guerin is still considering Pittsburgh as an option. Shero said Guerin is still in play as the Penguins have about $2.2 million in cap space.
  • Defenseman Sergei Gonchar talked to Shero at 11:30 last night. Shero admitted the third year was the main problem in their never being any movement towards a new deal.
  • The Penguins apparently broke off talks with Dan Hamhuis at noon today. Hamhuis camp indicated Pittsburgh was still in play up until 2:00 p.m. but Shero said they gave him a noon deadline.
  • The Penguins first call in free agency was to Zbynek Michalek.
