Insider Only Day 3 Development Camp Scouting Report & Buzz: Kenny Agostino flashing NHL potential

Today’s session had a 30 minute power skating portion with power skating instructor Marianne Watkins followed by a 3-on-3 scrimmage session.
Some Notes from today’s workout:
— Through three days LW Kenny Agostinio has been one of the best overall performers in camp. He’s flashed NHL potential and his two-way game really stands out. His skillset won’t wow you but he has excellent hands in around the net and can make the skill play. What jumps out with him in looking at his NHL potential is how he goes to the tough areas, providing a good combination of hockey IQ, skill and size at 6-1, 200 lbs. He’ll go to the corners to win puck battles and looks to make himself a presence in front of the net.
Teddy Blueger, the Penguins second round pick last month, was the best player on the ice today in 3-on-3 sessions. He had a handful of goals and setup several others. As I mentioned yesterday, it’s not an understatement to call him the second most skilled player in the system at forward. He has great poise with the puck and creativity in the playmaking department. He’s very patient with the puck and lets the play develop. I’ve been impressed with him all week
— Kept a close eye on 1st round pick Derrick Pouliot today during 3-on-3 play, and while he’s been overmatched physicaly at times as he seems to lack upper body strength, he showed great escape ability today when eluding a incoming forechecker. He kind of skates low to the ground, so he’s a player that appears to be hard to knock off the puck. Looking forward to seeing him Saturday in game situations but it’s obvious that Pouliot is at least a two-three years away from being NHL ready.
— Defenseman Philip Samuelsson continues to look much more fluid in the skating department and a strength in his game defensively is his long reach as he uses his stick effectively.

Josh Archibald is one of those players who just always seems to bring it. He was tenancious in the 3-on-3 down low drills going after loose pucks.
— While Archibald and Matia Marcantuoni are arguably the quickest players in camp, Joe Morrow was the fastest skater today during the power skating session where the players went from goal-line to the far blueline. Instructor Marianne Watkins was praising Morrow’s stride and she even mentioned to the players on the ice that the player with the best stride she has ever seen is former Penguin Jordan Staal.
