Bills have 0 touchdowns, no sustained drives
The NFL’s #1 defense stifiled the Terrell Owens less Buffalo Bills, limiting starting quarterback Trent Edwards to 31 yards passing.
Veteran Linebacker James Farrior capped off the Steelers dominating first half, intercepting Edwards for a 22-yard interception return for a touchdown.
Farrior who continues to get better with age also had 4 tackles and 1 sack on the night.
William Gay has strong first half
3rd year cornerback William Gay enters his first season as a starter and he fits the mold of a typical Steelers cornerback.
Gay is among the Steelers hardest hitting cornerbacks and led all Steelers cornerbacks with 4 tackles. The Steelers don’t expect to miss a beat with the loss of Bryant McFadden.
Donovan Woods leads Steelers with 5 tackles
Donovan Woods is pushing for a roster spot, becoming a reliable player on special teams and led the Steelers with 5 tackles against the Bills.
The Steelers continue to be disappointed with

2008 3rd round pick Bruce Davis. He had one tackle on the night after seeing extended playing time. Davis also received some reps with the 1st Special Teams unit
Davis is battling Patrick Bailey and Arnold Harrison for a roster spot. The Steelers expected Davis to make more strides in his 2nd year than he has. He is a player on the bubble with roster cuts 6 days away.
Fox becoming more comfortable with defense
Linebacker Keyaron Fox made his mark on special teams in 2008 but he appears primed to contribute at the MLB position this season. Fox has had a strong training camp, preseason and has the ability to fill in for James Farrior or Lawrence Timmons if either player goes down with an injury.
Fox is a former third round pick.
Timmons could be limited this week
Lawrence Timmons could be limited this week after suffering an ankle injury against the Bills. His status for Thursday’s game won’t be known until Monday or Tuesday.
The Steelers don’t have any serious injuries going in their final preseason game. Darnell Stapleton is hopeful to practice this week.
