Farm Report: Jeffrey scores game winner in 3-2 win

Dustin Jeffrey continues to produce as one of the AHL's top scorers as the 21 year old forward netted the game-winner with 2:07 left to play in regulation as the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins fought back to defeat the Lowell Devils 3-2 on Friday night at Wachovia Arena.

Jeffrey's game winner was his 12th goal of the season and team leading 41st point.

Konstantin Pushkarev (4) and Eric Tangradi (9) also scored for Wilkes Barre. John Curry made 30 saves to earn his 16th win of the season. Curry is 16-12-1 in 30 games played with a 2.53 GAA.

TIOPS No. 4 rated prospect Robert Bortuzzo added 2 assists for the Penguins.

Wilkes Barre returns to action Saturday night.

Notes: Much of the buzz in Wilkes Barre prior to the game was about Wilkes Barre defenseman Deryk Engelland and Lowell forward Louis Robitaille.

Washington Capitals head coach Bruce Boudreau’s wrote a book called Gabby: "Confessions of a Hockey Lifer" that was recently published and Boudreau mentions in the book that in the 2007 Calder Cup Finals, Deryk Engelland and a teammate gave Robitaille a beatdown in the parking lot following a game.

This was the first meeting between the two players since the incident was public knowledge.

if jeffery is dominating in points, then why hasn't he been called up? Also, yeah cory he really does.

Yeah im wondering what the big club wants from him? i mean hes the same age as Caputi so its not like hes producing points based on experience. Maybe hes too much of an playmaker?

Can't Engelland add a little toughness and grit to the backline?? Pens are too soft and need another thumrer.

Sit GoGo and bring up Engelland or Lovejoy. At least they try to play defense when they are with the big team, GoGo is a liabilitiy in both zones.

Leading in the point isn't necessarily indicative of being ready for the NHL--look no further than Janne Pesonen. He just recently moved to wing, too, so to ask him to perform at an NHL level while adjusting to the position would be a daunting task.

Boudreau is the biggest baby in the NHL not involving the Flyers. Remember when he complained about Orpik targeting Semin? Yeah, but no mention of Ovechkin trying to take out Malkin and Gonch. Alright, maybe they did schuffle, but the sure fact that he didn't say why gives me no reason to think Deryk was provocted.
