Wilkes Barre (10-4-1) notched their 10th win of the season Tuesday night with a 3-0 shutout win over the Binghamton Senators. Goaltender Scott Munroe (1-1-1) made 25 saves to earn his first win of the year. Through five games Munroe has posted a 1.82 GAA and the Baby Pens continue to get great goaltending with Brad Thiessen leading the way, posting a 9-3-0 record thus far.

Scott Munroe turned aside all 25 shots he faced to help the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins to a 3-0 win over the Binghamton Senators on Tuesday at the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza.
The game remained a scoreless tie until the 8:33 mark of the second period as Nick Petersen got two chances on a loose puck in front of the Binghamton net and whacked it home for this third goal of the season.
The Penguins would take a three-goal cushion into the locker room after they tallied twice in the last two minutes of the frame. Paul Thompson made it 2-0 with 1:23 left in the second, deflecting Matt Rust’s shot through the pads of Mike McKenna.
Brian Gibbons added another goal for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 1:12 later when he one-timed a drop pass from Jason Williams into the top left corner of the net.
Rust and Williams each finished the game with two helpers, while Petersen registered a goal and an assist.
It was Munroe’s second shutout of the season, but his first win of the year as he was the goalie of record in a 1-0 shootout loss to the Connecticut Whale on October 9.
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton went 0-for-5 on the power play and 7-for-7 on the penalty kill.
