The Wilkes Barre/ Scranton Penguins took care of business Friday night beating the Binghamton Senators 4-2 without leading scorer Chris Minard. Minard was called up today and leads the AHL with 26 goals. J-M Daoust’s power play tally with less than three minutes put the WBS Penguins on top 3-2 in the third. period.
Mark Letestu (09:15 1st), Janne. Pesonen (08:29 2nd), and Connor. James (19:59 3rd) also scored for the Penguins. Pesonen added his 11th goal of the season to give him 35 points in 32 games. While it doesn’t look like he will be given a shot with the Penguins, there is still some mild interest in him around the league. I could still see him moved in a packaged deal at the deadline.
Luca Caputi played well again. Caputi made a great play on Pesonen’s second period goal. As I mentioned earlier this week, Pens management would like to get Caputi some NHL experience in the 2nd half of the season like they did with Alex Goligoski last season. That is something to keep an eye on the rest of the season. Caputi is 4th in scoring on the team with 25 points in 37 games.
