Earlier in the day it was Reported the Edmonton Oilers have made a strong push to lure Jaromir Jagr to Edmonton this season. There’s talk that the two sides were discussing a two year deal worth $14 million but David Staples of the Edmonton Journal now reports Kevin Lowe has indicated Jagr is stuck in Russia for the rest of the season. Jagr has 25 goals and 51 points in 48 games, for Omsk of the Kontinental Hockey League.
Jagr had discussions with the Edmonton Oilers and the Pittsburgh Penguins during the summer. Jagr is close to Oilers star forward Ales Hemsky and look for the Oilers to make a strong attempt to get Jagr out of Russia over the summer. There is just too many avenues to get by for Jagr to return to the NHL at this point. He does have an opt-out clause according to sources.
