Bad glove hand, horrible lateral speed and plays small, plays well enough to keep a game in which defense works off shots to buffer him. Wont (well hasn’t yet) melt down and cost game. I’ll take Murray over Fleury and the added cap space. Fleury gets rattled when he lets in bad goals. Murray just forgets them and moves on. Murray is a major reason we won the cup and is a lot younger than Fleury. I don’t think Fleury’s mental game is as good either. Fleury is more athletic than Murray but Murray is bigger and great positionaly. As much as i want to agree Murray was also lucky he led the 2016 playoffs with most soft goals allowded how many times he let them in and gave away the lead when pens were up 2-0
luckily team in front of him was playing good to give him the W
he played 21 games and there were times you could say he was mentally getting tired
now what makes you say he can play 60+ games .Also you know the team wont block as many shots as they did in the playoffs

So, you do realize the Murray is so mentally strong he doesn’t get affected by things is just a lie and MURRAY himself even admitted to it. He said to NHL network I believe that he was very nervous before each game and the nerves are what lead to him having bad games. And as far as being positionally excellent…I ask if you saw any of those goals that were scored repeatidly on him from players going behind the net. Said it the other day and I’ll say it again, if Calgary is willing give up a kings ransom for Murray which it seems like they might be if they’Re willing to discuss a deal centering around #6 then you at least have to explore it, doesn’t mean you have to make the deal but it’s poor management to not discuss it, especially with the real goalie of the future waiting in the wings in WBS.
Is the #6 overall pick in the NHL draft really *that* valuable? Heck, Derrick Poulliot was the #8 overall pick and is far from a sure bet. Outside the top 1-3 picks in any given year, the NHL draft is more like the MLB draft.
I would more blame the idiocy of that group for drafting a guy like Pouliot that was projected to go in the high teens at #8 – instead of a guy like Filip Forsberg, that was all but guaranteed to go top 5 and was sitting there at #8 when they picked.
