Fleury expected to get the start Thursday night
Word out of the arena this morning is that Marc Andre Fleury will start Thursday night against Nashville and the intention is for Fleury to play at least 2 of the next 3 games on the Penguins upcoming road trip.
One of the primary factors in Fleury believed to be getting back into goal Thursday night is that he’s already on a 7 day layoff.
“Brent’s come in a played really well and has been outstanding for us, ” head coach Dan Bylsma said today following practice. “He’s gotten an opportunity to play an extra game or two because he is playing so well. But there is a ton of games left and Marc Andre Fleury is gonna be a guy who plays 60 games for us and he’s going to get back in there and we know that and we know he’s going to play some good hockey for us, “Bylsma said.
“It’s great to have Johhnny go in and play really well for us and get us some wins. We all know Marc is going to do the same thing. We’ll see Marc back this road trip, ” Bylsma later said.
Marc Andre Fleury is anxious to get back into goal but said today he understands the situation.
“We’ve been winning, Johnny’s been playing very well and that’s all that matters, Marc Andre Fleury said today.
Johnson, meanwhile, is beaming with confidence and is eyeing the next opportunity to get his hockey team another two points.
“I feel very good, very good, practicing hard and staying ready for whatever comes next, “Johnson said.
” Any goaltender, it’s great for your confidence, “Johnson said about his heavy workload thus far. “You get to know your teammates a lot better, what guys are going to do with the puck, communication is a lot fresher and in general you can kind of anticipate whats going to happen with your own teammates.”
