• According to TSN.ca, the Nashville Predators and Philadelphia Flyers have agreed to a sign and trade deal where Nashville will send forward Scott Hartnell and defenseman Kimmo Timonen to Philadelphia and has signed both to long-term deals. Hartnell has signed a $25.2M deal for six years and Timonen $37.8M for six years. In return, the Predators regain the 1st round draft pick previously traded to the Flyers as part of the deal involving Peter Forsberg.
  • Scott Hartnell was on many Penguin fans wishlists but i for one am happy he is now off the free agent list. Hartnell is a quality forward but to pay him 25 million over 6 years is absurd. The reality is Ray Shero would not have offered over 3 million per year. Let’s just be happy the Flyers overspent on Hartnell and not us. As for Timonen, he is a very good defenseman but a 6 year deal is a bit long. He will be 39 when his contract runs out. Looks like Sergei Gonchar at 5 million per year is a bargain. The Flyers overspent for both guys but they are very good signings and the Flyers will be a much improved team next season.
