The Boston Bruins defeated the Philadelphia Flyers (45-20-10, 100pts), 2-1 on Sunday night and Pittsburgh’s primary goal of winning the divison is no longer looking like such a longshot.
The Penguins (45-23-8, 98pts) , winners of four straight and 6 of 7, have put the heat on Philadelphia who appear a little rattled right now.
Tuesday’s showdown will be of tremendous significance as a regulation win for Pittsburgh will tie them for first place in the division. The Flyers lead the season series, 3-2, and a Penguins win will also tie the season series at 3-3.
Philadelphia has a game in hand going into Tuesday’s game. The Penguins have opened up a 7 point lead over the Tampa Bay Lightning for the no. 4 seed in the Eastern Conference.

*With 6 games remaining in the season, 50 wins is still in reach for the Penguins. Pittsburgh will need a 5-1 finish. Unlikely but would be quite an accomplishment.
