Former Pittsburgh Steelers All-Pro guard Alan Faneca has announced his retirement after 13 NFL seasons.
Faneca was the Steelers first round pick in 1998 and made the Pro Bowl from 2001-2007 for the Steelers, and was the anchor on the offensive line for much of the decade.
Faneca was a member of the Steelers Super Bowl XL winning team.
Following the 2007 season, the Steelers did not make an attempt to resign Faneca who signed with the New York Jets in free agency.
Faneca would play with the Jets for two seasons (08, 09). He was released following the 2009 season and finished his career with the Arizona Cardinals.
Faneca was a nine time pro-bowl guard and will be a candidate for the Hall of Fame.
