Colon holding out hope to return to Pittsburgh
The door on Willie Colon hasn’t been closed just yet. After no contract disscussions being established by the Steelers on Tuesday, which caught Colon’s camp by surprise, discussions finally began this morning and were said to be “fluid” as of late Wednesday morning, a league source told Inside Pittsburgh Sports.
The Steelers though have serious company for Colon’s services.
The Seattle Seahawks, Buffalo Bills, and Atlanta Falcons are among a handful of teams to express interest in Colon today.
According to a source directly involved in the talks, Colon is down to three teams, including the Steelers. The source would not confirm if the Bills, Seahawks or Falcons are two of the three teams. The Seahawks just signed Oaklands Robert Gallery.
Colon has shown a willingness to give the Steelers every opportunity to sign him to a fair deal.
For now, the Steelers are still in the mix but others are now lurking.
Notes: The team on Tuesday opened up preliminary talks with agent Jordan Woy, who represents both Jonathan Scott and Flozell Adams.
The team has expressed a strong interest in retaining Scott, regardless of whether something gets done with Colon. As of yesterday though, Scott was said to be waiting to see how the Willie Colon situation unfolds……
