Insider Only Free Agency Update I: Penguins out of the mix for Hendricks; Scuderi Latest

*Coveted role player Matt Hendricks has picked the team he will sign with, an NHL source tells Inside Pittsburgh Sports. Hendricks will sign today and the Penguins have been informed that they are out of the mix. The Penguins showed immediate interest in Hendricks on Wednesday morning as the team has checked in on several third line type players.
*It’s become no secret that Rob Scuderi is looking at opportunities to play in the East. Toronto appears to be one. Darren Dreger of TSN writes, “Leafs would love to add Scuderi to their blueline. All around solid d-man. Sounds like Leafs are Scuderi’s top ufa choice”. The Penguins are still in the mix sources tell Inside Pittsburgh Sports.

*Former Penguin Dominic Moore is looking to return to the NHL and the Penguins had interest in him two years ago at the trade deadline but agent Larry Kelly tells me he hasn’t heard from the Penguins to this point.
*I’m getting lots of questions from Pens fans about Phoenix Coyotes Boyd Gordon via email and some on twitter. He’s a very underrated player but I’m hearing the agent is eyeing a deal worth more than $2 million per season. Gordon made $1.325 million last season. Not happening here if that’s true.
