Friday’s Practice Buzz: Bennett looks like a go vs STL, Neal getting closer

beau-bennett FRIDAY’S PRACTICE BUZZ

  • The Pittsburgh Penguins are anticipating the return of Beau Bennett to the lineup Saturday night vs the St. Louis Blues. Bennett who has missed the last 11 games, last played on October 12 vs the Tampa Bay Lightning. Bennett has 2 assists in five games. I’m told coaches felt coming into the season that Bennett could push for 60 points this season and he’s been tagged as a breakout player. For the immediate future, Bennett will be looked at to possibly jump start Evgeni Malkin who has 3 goals in 16 games this season. Bennett skated with Jussi Jokinen and Malkin today.
  • It won’t be a surprise if James Neal returns to the lineup next week. Neal has really ramped up his rehab this week and is practicing with the team again. He even got some reps with the first unit.
  • Pascal Dupuis is fine and will play tomorrow night vs St. Louis.
  • Paul Martin is not practicing. Expectations are he will make the trip.
