This is the first of six regular season meetings between the Penguins and Flyers in 2008-09. The Flyers lead the all-time series with a 130-73-30-3 record in 236 games, including a 42-53-22-1 record on the road.
Both teams have struggled out of the gate and will look to get back on track tonight. The Flyers are coming off a 5-3 loss to the Montreal Canadiens Monday night. The Flyers have received subpar goaltending from Marty Biron who has surrendered eight goals in less than four periods. Biron will serve as the Flyers backup tonight as Antero Niitymaki will start. The Penguins are coming off a 2-1 OT loss to the New Jersey Devils. The Penguins were outplayed in all facets of the game and were outshot by the Devils 49-15. A bright spot for the Penguins in this young season has been the play of Marc Andre Fleury. Fleury is establishing himself as one of the league’s top 5 goaltenders
Sidney Crosby is one goal away from 100 for his career
