New York Islanders forward Bill Guerin was pulled from the team’s lineup after their warmup Saturday night. Guerin who has a NTC is expected to be asked to waive his NTC in the morning.
The Islanders were among six teams at the Penguins – Blackhawks game last night
Coyotes defenseman Derek Morris will also sit out until he is traded which will happen before Wednesday. Morris has drawn interest from up to 10 teams including the Pittsburgh Penguins. Teams that have made inquiries:  NYR, BOS, CLB, NJD, VAN, WAS, SJ, EDM, PIT, CAL, MIN

Guerin nixed a trade to Pittsburgh in February when Michel Therrien was the teams head coach because of the way Therrien treated older veterans. During that time the Islanders were scouting Pascal Dupuis. As of Thursday I was told there hasn’t been any talks between the Penguins and Islanders since Guerin wouldn’t waive his NTC to Pittsburgh in early February.
update: 1027 p.m. – The Capitals, Rangers, Hurricanes and Sabres, Canadiens have held talks with Islanders about Guerin within the past 48 hours. I can’t see him waiving his NTC to Carolina. Montreal is being mentioned but that seems unlikely considering they are in on some big names like Jokinen.
update: 10:30 p.m. РJust got an email from team source with the Penguins. Says only way the Penguins got back into the Guerin sweepstakes is if they were sending equal salary to New york. Shero wants to have close to $4 million in cap space (not pro-rated) like he has now to chase bigger fish.
