Neil Walker has likely played his last game as a Pirate but if he sticks around one more season, the Pirates out of respect for the process don’t plan to ask Walker to change positions.[hide]
“It would be awfully tough to ask a free agent to be to move positions,” said Neal Huntington on 937 The Fan today. “Not something we’ve approached with him. Not plan A for us due to respect we need to give Neil Walker [with pending free agent]. Just might not be right thing for Neil Walker or right thing for the Pirates.”
Walker’s trade value this off-season is a mystery because some teams believe there’s a chance Pittsburgh will DFA him than pay him $10 million per season. [/hide]
I’m sure they’d pay to help get a better return. Seems to be the track record on mod tcases
Interesting that D and his sources are confident that Walker won’t be back but DK seems to think there’s no doubt he will be back. Time to find out who really has their pulse on the team.
Kangs injury certainly complicates things as well. He could have played 3B with Jordy at SS and Jay Hay at 2B. But there is no way they can count on him next season.
Neil is not a $10M player, but hes also in no danger of being DFA’d. If anything, the Pirates will split the cost to get better players in return.
