Ike Taylor suffered a broken forearm in tonight’s 37-19 win over the Carolina Panthers. Taylor, 34, is a declining player and if he needs season ending surgery, his career is likely over.
Taylor, though, is loved by Steelers President Art Rooney II and if Taylor could return in six to eight weeks, the Steelers would likely place him on IR designated to return.
The Steelers already thin at cornerback, will see William Gay move into a starters role and Antwon Blake become the Steelers No. 3 cornerback.
Gay has graded out as the Steelers best cornerback since the 2013 season.
Meanwhile, the Steelers do not know the severity of injuries for Ryan Shazier and Jarvis Jones. Shazier suffered a right knee injury and Jones a wrist injury. Both will be evaluated Monday in Pittsburgh.
