— Hand the MVP to Connor McDavid already? McDavid was his usual self with an electrifying performance in an Oilers 3-0 win by recording a hat trick. McDavid was clocked at skating more than 25 mph on this goal.
— The Winnipeg Jets have surfaced as that team many in the media are buzzing about and believe they could be a threat. Winnipeg got smacked in the mouth by the Toronto Maple Leafs 7-2. Patrick Marleau starred in his Leafs debut with a 2-goal night and Auston Matthews had a three point night. Toronto is going to be fun to watch.
— What type of team will the Philadelphia Flyers be this season? In a brutally tough division, expectations are as low as can be for Philly. Their big guns shined Wednesday in a 5-3 win over the Sharks with a hat trick from Wayne Simmonds, 3 assist game from Jakub Voracek and Claude Giroux who will be at the forefront of trade rumors all season had a goal.
Bure is the only other comparable that I can think of.

I was thinking exactly that. When he blows by Brodie it reminded me of Bure on Ellett in the 94 conference finals
Not sure how he found another gear but he is likely the highest skilled speedster in the history of the game. A lot of really good players are fast but the really fast guys often struggle to play at top speed. McDavid is money when going full out, almost total control of the puck.
