The Chicago Cubs desperately in need of starting pitching, have acquired Jose Quintana from the Chicago White Sox in exchange for OF Eloy Jimenez, 1B Matt Rose, INF Bryant Flete and RHP Dylan Cease.
Quintana was linked to the Pirates this past winter but Pittsburgh halted a pursuit of Quintana in February.
Quintana has struggled this season with a 4.49 ERA but is on a very team friendly contract that saw the Cubs have to give up top prospects Jimenez and Cease to land him. Overall, though, it’s a great trade for the Cubs.
I’m just going to officially say that this trade is the end of Neal Huntington.
A day like today is when you miss Benny. Showing up to say why standing pat is a great move, and lauding how big Nutting’s dong is, and how woman would be lucky to have him.
Go Nuttings wallet! Thank God for the die hard baseball fans and beautiful ball park or attendance would be even more embarrassing.
Sounds about right. I’ve never been more down on the Pirates than I am right now. They have and continue to squander a major opportunity with the talent they have by never going the extra mile or paying the extra cent to field a complete team. Quintana was a perfect fit for this club, for PNC, and he could have given the Pirates the absolute best rotation for at least the next year and a half, with 4 legitimate top rotation starters. But, at least I get to “enjoy Tyler Glasnow” in the minors.
They lost any goodwill they had built up by voluntarily stepping back after the 98 win season rather than going after a perceived player to “put them over the top.” if you do that, and it doesn’t work, nobody faults you. Instead, they called it some sort of bridge year and now they’re back to looking cheap as all motherfuckk.
Wake up Neal!
