Conor Sheary who was traded in June 2018 so the Penguins could clear cap space to sign Jack Johnson and resign Riley Sheahan, continues to shine against his former team.

Sheary scored twice Thursday night against Pittsburgh in the Sabres 3-1 win over the Penguins. Sheary talked afterwards of having extra motivation against Pittsburgh. “I think you just want to prove to people that you can still play,” said Sheary. “You kind of get the feeling that someone doesn’t want you when they trade you. I think I took that to heart, so coming back here is always fun.”

Trading Sheary was a unanimous decision among the upper level management and coaching staff as the Penguins felt they had younger forwards ready to replace him. A season later and now there’s some serious questioning about that decision.
