Penguins center Evgeni Malkin will be sidelined for Wednesday’s game vs the Vancouver Canucks with an upper body injury. The Penguins contend for now the injury is short-term and that Malkin hasn’t been ruled out for Friday’s game.

Jake Guentzel replaced Malkin as the second line center in Tuesday’s practice, while Carter Rowney (broken hand) centered Gregg McKegg and Ryan Reaves with Tom Kuhnhackl the odd-man out.

Rowney has been cleared to return to the lineup.
