Flyers GM Chuck Fletcher continues to be in a wheeling and dealing mode after acquiring the rights to Kevin Hayes and defenseman Matt Niskanen last week. Today Fletcher struck again on the trade market, acquiring 32 year old defenseman Justin Braun from the San Jose Sharks. The Flyers will send a 2019 2nd round pick and 2020 3rd round pick to the Sharks. Braun has one year left on his current deal with a $3.8 million cap space.

With the additions of Niskanen and Braun to bolster their top-2 pairings, Philadelphia has now set themselves to deal from a position of strength in moving a young defenseman for an impact forward to go with the expecting signing of Kevin Hayes as the two sides are nearing a deal.
