Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Jamie Oleksiak was among 44 NHL players to officialy file for arbitration on Thursday.

Oleksiak, 25, had four goals and 14 points in 47 games with the Penguins last season.

Talks between the Penguins and Oleksiak’s representatives at Newport Sports have been slow moving to this point but the two sides will be coming together on a short-term deal in the next couple weeks and likely avoid arbitration.

Oleksiak made $964,000 last season and expectations are a short term deal would come in around $1.5-$2 million.
