The Pittsburgh Penguins announced on Sunday they have signed forward Jimmy Hayes, defensemen Zach Trotman and Stefan Elliott, and goaltender John Muse to one year, two-way contracts.

All four deals contain an AAV of $650,000 at the NHL level.

Hayes, 28, is the most notable signing of the 2-way contract group to this point.

Hayes career season came in 2014-2015 with 19 goals, 35 points for the Florida Panthers. He was then moved for Riley Smith and followed up his 35-point season in 14/15 with a 13 goal, 29 point season in 15/16 with the Bruins.

Hayes, though, has taken a nose-dive since and struggled to find a role the last two seasons in an NHL that has become more about speed.

Last season with the New Jersey Devils he tallied 3 goals and 9 points in 33 games. The previous season Hayes had 5 points in 58 games with the Bruins.

Penguin coaches have wanted more jam/size with their winger group, so Hayes (6-5, 215) could still get a long look in camp.
