Washington Capitals defenseman Dmitry Orlov is in talks with CSKA of the KHL, per Igor Eronko of Sport-Express (Moscow-Russia).

The 25 year old defenseman emerged as a No. 2 pairing defenseman for the Capitals as the season progressed and is a player on the upswing. He made $2.570 million in 2016-2017 and the pending RFA is seeking upwards of $4 million per season.

The Capitals headed for an off-season of change, have a number of key unrestricted and restricted free agents:

None bigger than Evgeny Kuznetsov and T.J. Oshie.

They currently have around $22 million in cap space.
