Penguins defenseman Olli Maatta remains in the hospital for further evaluation, the Penguins announced. According to the team, the injury is not related to any previous injuries (shoulder). Maatta underwent extensive tests over night to determine if there was any damage to his internal organs, a source close to the situation says. He has been cleared of any internal damage which is positive news for Maatta.

Maatta, though, is expected to be sidelined for multiple weeks due to soft tissue damage in his stomach area.

The NHL has determined that Nino Niederreiter will not be suspended for his hit on Maatta.
