Matt Cullen scored the go-ahead goal 4:16 into the third period off a Rangers miscue and Kris Letang added an empty net goal late in the third as the Penguins defeated the New York Rangers 3-1 on Tuesday night to take a 2-1 series lead.

The Penguins trailed 1-0 until late in the second period and struck on the power play when Sidney Crosby deflected a Phil Kessel pass with 48 seconds left in the period past Henrik Lundqvist to tie the game at 1-1 after forty minutes.

Matt Murray making his first career post-season start made 16 saves on 17 shots.

Pittsburgh out-shot the Rangers 31-17 and out-attempted New York 58-42.
