Pirates 12 – Braves 5 (10)

Some late inning magic saw the Pirates (21-26, 9-17 away) rally to a 12-5 win over the Atlanta Braves (20-24, 10-11 home) on Wednesday night.

Trailing 5-3 with 2-outs in the ninth inning, Jose Osuna delivered a bases loaded 2-run single to tie the game at 5-5 and then the Pirates went crazy in the 10th inning in scoring seven runs.

Gift Ngoepe doubled to drive in Andrew McCutchen for the go-ahead run and the Pirates would add six more runs in the 10th.

Josh Harrison’s two-run single pushed the Pirates lead to 8-5 and then the Pirates kept coming with back-to-back-to-back homers from David Freese, Jose Osuna and Jordy Mercer.

It marked the first time since September 13, 2013 that the Pirates hit three straight homers.

Adam Frazier also homered in the win, a 3-run shot in the 2nd inning. Frazier hitting .370 on the season, homered, drove in 3-runs and walked four times in the win.

Starter Trevor Williams allowed 6 hits and 3 earned runs in five innings. He struck out 6 and walked none.
