The New Jersey Devils and General Manager Ray Shero have agreed to part ways, effective immediately, the New Jersey Devils announced tonight. Devils owner Josh Harris says in a statement “Ray is a talented hockey executive and I am confident he will have great success in the future. However, Ray and I are in agreement that the Devils need to move in a new direction and that this change is in the best interest of the team.”
Former Pens assistant GM Tom Fitzgerald has been named interim GM.

Odd that it was mid-season. Usually, even with poor performance, these things happen in the off-season. Makes me think it was happening in April, but there was either a heated discussion with ownership, or something else that accelerated it.
Ya it is odd, might be more to this we will learn later. I wish Ray well. I mean ya he wasn’t perfect but dude helped bring a cup here and drafted several of the guys that won in 16/17 and playing well today
