The Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday officially exercised the 5th year option for starting outside linebacker Bud Dupree.

Dupree was entering the final year of his rookie control and the Steelers now have him under control through the 2019 season.

Dupree has 14½ sacks and 90 tackles in 38 career games with the Steelers.

Dupree’s level of play took off in the second half of the 2016 season but Dupree took a step back in 2017 where he had 40 tackles, 6 sacks in 2017.

Still, it was a no-brainer for the Steelers to exercise the $9.3 million option.
