BOS RECEIVES:
F Charlie Coyle

MIN RECEIVES
F Ryan Donato
2019 5th round pick

TRADE BUZZ: Minnesota’s asking price under Chuck Fletcher and now Paul Fenton for Charlie Coyle has been so high for sometime that the surprise of this deal wasn’t that Coyle was traded, but it was the return. Minnesota is starting a bit of a re-tool. Donato, 22, has a chance to be a nice player, but Fenton turning Nino Niederreiter and Charlie Coyle into just Viktor Rask and Ryan Donato is going to draw some criticism in Minnesota as it should.

For Boston this is a nice deal for them. Coyle is always going to be that player where you look at him and he should produce more, but it’s a player who can skate, has great size and play anywhere in your lineup. Boston also gets a year of control as Coyle is a UFA after next season. In addition, Boston’s prospect group is so strong, losing a mid-level guy like Donato does nothing to their system.
